We will never forget that day; it will stay in our hearts forever

Rav Avraham Shmuel Goldberg הי"ד

On Tuesday 25th Marcheshvan 5775 (18/11/2014), our dear friend, Rav Avraham Shmuel Goldberg, הי”ד, was snatched from us in a storm to Gan Eden, al kiddush HaShem.

He was 68 years old, at the peak of his vitality, when his life was cut short by vile and accursed murderers in beit-knesset, while still adorned with tallit and tefillin.

With his passing he left an enormous and indescribable vacuum in our hearts, and the hearts of all who knew him. We felt the lack of a modest and noble person, humble and wise, “whose יראת שמים preceded his wisdom,” and whose heart was overflowing with generosity and light.

Despite the passing years, our heart still refuses to believe and be comforted that a mentor, a true friend, who left his indelible mark on Beit Naomi which was established for those girls in distress who live in our shelter, is no longer with us.

Rav Goldberg, הי”ד, devoted valuable time and energy supporting and promoting Beit Naomi – all with a smile and good will, as though it was for his own home.

At the most crucial times, when the founder of Beit Naomi, Rav Yair Nahari, had to cope with financial difficulties, Rav Goldberg was always there to encourage, give hope, and even give from his own pocket for the girls, all with the quiet and refinement that characterized him.

Already in his lifetime he was privileged to see the fruits of his success in Beit Naomi, but unfortunately he did not see the continuation of the enormous success.

There is no doubt that Beit Naomi, the amazing enterprise for saving girls at risk, is to Rav Goldberg’s credit and serves him well in Gan Eden where he rests with all the tzadikkim.
